Exam De-Stress Programme

We’ve been stressing out to keep you calm over the December exam period.

There’s loads of events, activity and support planned over 28th November – 16th December, and across all 4 student bodies more is being added all the time (think yoga, punch bags, maybe even a bouncy castle). Here’s a taste of what you can expect so far (with more details to be added).

Physio Workshop: ‘Sitting at a desk, a pain in the neck?’

12 -1pm            Williams Room, McIntyre Building

This workshop explains the origins of most common neck and shoulder pain associated with working at a desk or with a computer.We explore ways to improve seated posture to minimise pain and end with exercises and stretches to maintain this.

Hand Massage Workshop

12 – 1.30pm      Gilchrist Seminar Room, Gilchrist Postgraduate Club

Join us for an interactive hand massage workshop and soothe your worries away. You’ll learn to give and receive a massage that you can then use for friends and family.

Carers’ Lunch

Are you a student with caring responsibilities? Take some time for yourself during this busy time and make connections with fellow student carers over food.

 

Knit away your stress

2 – 4pm Williams Room, McIntyre

Come and join us in a knitting session. We’ve got wool and needles, so don’t worry if you’re a novice wanting to learn or a pro in the middle of an elaborate festive jumper. All welcome.

 

2nd Dec

Christmas Market

10am – 3pm      Qudos, QMU

Take half an hour out of the library to wander round our market. Donate anything you don’t need to our food bank and swap shop, and enjoy mulled wine and mince pies provided by clubs and societies.

Macmillan Cancer Support Outreach Session

12 – 3pm           Williams Room, McIntyre

Macmillan @ Glasgow Libraries bring their cancer support and information offering to us for the afternoon. They help take the stress out of cancer for anyone affected by a diagnosis, whether you’re family or friend. Drop by for a chat and a goody-bag.

 

3rd Dec

Great Day Out to Mugdock Country Park

11am     Meet by Esso Garage on Maryhill Rd (next to Murano)

The Great Days Out Society are taking you on a trip to this lovely spot for a relaxing scenic walk. Healthy body, healthy mind! Bring lunch and bus change.

 

5th – 16th Dec

De-Stress Stall

12 – 2pm           Library Level 3

We’ll be giving out stress packs (our little first aid kit to get you through exams) and snacks in the library every weekday during exams. Have a doodle on our doodle board, it’s therapeutic.

 

11th Dec

Planet Earth II Screening

8 – 10pm           Williams Room, McIntyre

There is literally no better way to relax in the middle of exams than the soothing tones of Sir David Attenborough. See Planet Earth on the big screen with beanbags and popcorn.
